Humbleton is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 9 miles (14km) north-east of Hull city centre.
The civil parish is formed by the villages of Humbleton and Flinton. According to the 2011 UK census, Humbleton parish had a population of 208. The parish council consists of seven councillors and is supported by the Clerk. The Parish Council is part of Local Government and the Councillors are governed by law. All Parish Councils have and use their power to tax residents.
Parish Councillors are democratically elected representatives of their community. They are not volunteers but are elected by residents every 4 years (last election May 2023). Parish Councils must have an individual, the Clerk, who is a statutory office holder ie the position is defined in law and the proper officer. The Clerk is responsible for enacting the parish council's decisions.
The clerk is not an elected member of the council, but is an employee of the council.
The parish church of St Peter is a Grade I listed building.
Humbleton has a cricket field which is part of the Heron Education Foundation. Some of the properties in the parish are owned by Heron Education Foundation or the Ann Watson Trust.
